What happens during ovarian stimulation?

Your clinic uses medicines and tests to help several follicles grow at once. Follicles are small sacs that may hold eggs.

What you should know

Ultrasound and blood tests help guide timing and medicine doses. A final trigger shot helps prepare eggs for retrieval. The timing of the trigger can be critical. Not every follicle holds a mature egg.

What to ask your care team

“How will I learn my results, and when is my trigger shot?”

One important reminder

Call your clinic promptly if you are unsure about the trigger time.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
