Fresh or frozen embryo transfer?

A fresh transfer happens soon after eggs are collected. A frozen transfer happens in a later cycle.

What you should know

Freezing may be advised for medical safety, hormone levels, testing plans, or clinic strategy. Both paths can lead to pregnancy. Which is best depends on your situation. Ask about the cost, timing, and risk of each approach.

What to ask your care team

“Why do you recommend fresh or frozen transfer for me?”

One important reminder

Neither method is always best for every patient.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
