When should I stop fertility treatment?

Stopping treatment is a valid choice. So is taking a break.

What you should know

There is no fixed number of cycles that is right for everyone. You may weigh medical chance, risks, money, time, values, and how treatment affects your life. Ask for a clear review of likely benefit and alternatives. You can revisit the choice if your situation changes.

What to ask your care team

“What benefit could another cycle offer, and what are the burdens?”

One important reminder

A decision to stop treatment does not mean you have failed.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
