What are my chances of getting pregnant?

Your chance depends on more than one number. Age, diagnosis, prior treatment, and use of your own or donor eggs all matter.

What you should know

Ask for the chance of a live birth, not just a positive test. Also ask whether a rate is per cycle started, egg retrieval, or embryo transfer. A rate per transfer leaves out cycles that never reach transfer. CDC offers IVF estimates and clinic reports, but averages cannot predict your result.

What to ask your care team

“Can you show my chance of live birth per cycle started and over more than one cycle?”

One important reminder

No calculator can promise a pregnancy.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
