How long does fertility treatment take?

Fertility care takes time because tests, cycle timing, and lab steps must fit together.

What you should know

An IVF stimulation phase often lasts around one to two weeks, but the full process may take longer. Some patients need testing or treatment before starting. Embryos may be frozen for transfer in a later cycle. Your schedule may change based on response or safety.

What to ask your care team

“Can you give me a calendar with a likely range of dates?”

One important reminder

Do not change treatment timing to match a calendar without asking your team.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
