Which IVF symptoms need urgent care?

Some symptoms can be signs of bleeding, infection, a clot, ovarian hyperstimulation, or ectopic pregnancy.

What you should know

Call your clinic urgently for worsening belly pain, swelling, repeated vomiting, fever, heavy bleeding, or low urine output. Seek emergency care for trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, or severe sudden pain. Tell the medical team if you have recently used fertility medicines or had egg retrieval or transfer.

What to ask your care team

“What emergency number should I use after hours?”

One important reminder

Do not wait for a routine appointment if you have severe or fast-worsening symptoms.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
