The two-week wait: What is normal?

After embryo transfer, symptoms do not reliably tell you whether you are pregnant.

What you should know

Cramping, breast soreness, and bloating may come from medicines or other causes. Follow your clinic plan for medicine and testing. Home tests done too early can be confusing, especially after some trigger medicines. Ask when the test will be meaningful.

What to ask your care team

“When should I test, and should I keep taking my medicines?”

One important reminder

Severe pain, heavy bleeding, fainting, or trouble breathing should not wait for test day.

Before your next visit

Write down your questions. Bring your medicine list and any test results you have. Ask for a plan in writing. If an answer is not clear, ask your team to explain it in a different way.
