Your personal chance of a successful VBAC
It is predictable, and the prediction should be shown to you.
Success is not a coin flip and it is not the same for everyone. A prediction model built from 7,660 women with one prior low transverse cesarean uses maternal age, body mass index, prior vaginal delivery, prior successful VBAC, and whether the reason for the first cesarean is likely to recur.
An older admission scoring system applied to 5,022 women attempting labor found success ranging from 49% in the lowest scoring group to 95% in the highest.
Ask to see the number"What does the VBAC prediction model give as my personal chance of success?" A woman with a 90% predicted chance and a woman with a 40% chance are facing genuinely different decisions and should not be counseled identically.
