Expect the incision to be sore, slightly raised, numb along the scar and in a band above it, and to look bruised or pink for weeks. Small amounts of clear or slightly blood-tinged fluid in the first days are common. You can shower. Pat the area dry.
Numbness above the scar is normal and can last months or permanently. It happens because small skin nerves are cut.
